The ringneck pheasant rump patch contains many feathers that can be used on spey and dee style flies as well as trout flies. The top portion of the patch has some uniquely mottled feathers that are good for soft hackles or streamer patterns. Try these feathers as cheeks on streamers and sculpin type patterns. On the back portion of the patch are the long flowing feathers that have an iridescent sheen that can be used for summer steelhead type flies. And finally are the filoplumes that are at the base of the larger feathers, these micro plumes can be wrapped as hackle on small nymphs or gills on larger Hex nymphs. This is a very versatile patch of feather.
