Arctic Fox is an excellent material for use as a wing in smaller flies and as an under-wing in bigger flies. It also great as a shoulder on big wings. Simply tie at as the last step of the wing and keep it at approximately one third of the length of the wing and you will get a nice profile.

Arctic Fox is the softest of all fox materials. The guard-hair of these tails is approximately 2 inches on average. Arctic fox is the most common type of fox used for fly tying. For bigger flies Silver fox is a better choice. The hair on Silver fox tails is longer than Arctic fox tail hair.
